SUSTAINABILITYwe care about enviroment

We care deeply about the planet and creating a business that gives back to nature. That’s why we’re thrilled to share that we’re partnering with One Tree Planted/@onetreeplanted and FoodSharing

Trees clean our air and water, create habitats for biodiversity, contribute to our health and wellbeing, and create jobs for social impact. We’re honored to have reforestation through One Tree Planted as an integral part of our business model.

Foodsharing is an initiative created in 2012 that is committed to the responsible use of resources and a sustainable food system. The goal of ending food waste comes first. In Germany alone, this is a big problem: More than a third of all food produced ends up in the bin. And not only the food itself is thrown away, but also energy, the time and resources necessary, for example, for cultivation, harvesting, packaging, transport and storage. According to an estimate by the WWF, 10% of all greenhouse gas emissions worldwide are caused by throwing away food alone. Waste takes place along the entire value chain: cultivation, harvesting, further processing, sales and the end user.

foodsharing raises awareness of the topic, among all actors with whom the initiative is in contact. In various actions, we draw attention to the incredible waste in society and offer solutions. For this we write petitions, are in contact with politicians, give interviews, go demonstrate and save tons of food from destruction every day. The aim is to initiate enlightenment, rethinking and responsible action on a personal and political level.

More than 450,000 registered users and more than 100,000 volunteers, so-called food savers, are now making the initiative an international movement. More than 11,000 companies are cooperating, where 65 million kilograms of food have already been saved from waste. About 5,000 more pick-ups take place every day.

The platform is based on voluntary commitment. The rescue and sharing of food takes place money-free. The non-profit foodsharing e.V. as the umbrella organization and operator of the website ensures that it remains non-commercial and without advertising.

foodsharing brings together people from a wide variety of backgrounds and encourages participation, thinking along and responsible use of the resources of our planet. We are united by the common goal of combating food waste at all levels and thus abolishing ourselves in the long term. There is no other initiative of this size that volunteers to this extent, publicly communicates how much food is thrown away and offers solutions from a sustainability perspective.
